The idea behind the Brief, in one paragraph
Definition: equity as leadership practice
In the Equity Leadership Brief and in CRW Diversity's work, equity is not a belief an organization holds. It is the result of the decisions leaders make every day and the systems those decisions run through: policies, practices, access to opportunity, leadership decisions, and unwritten norms. Organizations often focus on what individuals need to do differently. Those things matter. Celeste Warren's point is that leaders also have to examine both sides of the equation: how people lead and how organizations operate. When talented people are ready to move forward and the systems around them are not, the organization pays the cost of standing still.
